February is American Heart Month where participants raise awareness about the importance of heart health, prevention of stroke, heart disease and more. Our clinicians at Dynamix Physical Therapy are educated in how to help our patients who may have had a major heart surgery, stents put in or have been referred to Dynamix by their doctor to work on a cardiac program.
At Dynamix, we can customize a program that is right for you. Here are three goals of cardiac rehab that we can help you achieve:
1. Help you regain your strength.
It is important that after a major heart surgery that you start slowly but steadily working to make your heart stronger. Our clinicians may have you on a stationary bike for a few moments, then move you to the treadmill, all while monitoring your vitals and making sure you are comfortable.
2. Prevent your condition from worsening.
We do not want your delicate condition to worsen when you are being cared for by a Dynamix clinician. We will work with you to make sure you move forward in your journey rather than fall behind.
3. Reduce your risk of future heart problems and improve your overall health and quality of life.
Cardiac rehab can help decrease the risk of future heart issues. Our clinicians will be with you along the emotional and physical journey from post-op, rehab and then discharge. At Dynamix, we are walking this journey with you.
Please talk to your cardiologist or other healthcare provider if you think cardiac rehab would benefit you. Your doctor will always have your best interest in mind and will refer you if he or she believes it is the right thing for your condition.
To support Heart Health, be sure to wear your red on Fri., Feb. 4, 2022. This is “Go Red for Women” day to bring awareness that heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the United States.
