Melanie Peggs was raised in Savannah, Tennessee. After graduating from Hardin County High School, Melanie attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville where she received her bachelor’s degree in Social Work in 2010. Immediately following graduation, she decided to serve as a campus ministry intern at the UT Knoxville and later went on to work in the field of Human Resources and administration. In 2016, Melanie decided to go back to school and pursue a career in physical therapy after realizing this profession perfectly encompassed all that she wanted in a career.

Melanie’s decision to change careers was also influenced by her own personal experience with physical therapy when a debilitating back injury left her feeling helpless at the age of 25. She remembers the treating physical therapist asking such specific and pertinent questions that it left her speechless and fascinated by his understanding of her condition. She still recalls the confidence and hope he gave her for recovery with proper therapy and now hopes that she can do the same for her current and future patients.

In her free time, Melanie enjoys many outdoor activities like kayaking, hiking, biking, and hammocking. Any time spent with family and friends is icing on the cake! In addition, she enjoys playing with her new fur baby, Honey, (a one year old German Shepherd/chocolate lab mix) who is every bit as sweet as she is hyper!
