RUSS A. HUFFSTETLER – PT, DPT, CIMT, Cert.DN

Russ Huffstetler was born in a small Tennessee town to entrepreneurial parents.  He learned early the importance of a passionate pursuit of excellence through sports participation.  Russ was a 4-year letterman in football, basketball, and baseball.  Throughout his early years he learned the importance of teamwork and dedication to any challenge.  Russ was introduced to physical therapy through sports rehabilitation following a few non-serious injuries.  He decided to pursue a career in physical therapy through undergraduate study at the University of Tennessee at Martin followed by acceptance into the physical therapy program at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis.

Graduating with a Master of Physical Therapy in 2004, Russ was awarded a Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2005. Russ began practicing in Nashville, TN, in general orthopedics and later moved into a sport specific practice in conjunction with the Tennessee Titan’s team physician working with athletes of all levels (high school, college, professional, post-professional, and recreational). A desire to offer big city care and unmatched service and expertise in his home of Northwest Tennessee led Russ back to Milan, TN in 2007.  Russ met Heath Ladd with whom a friendship was forged followed by a business partnership which shared mutual goals.

Russ has extensive training in manual therapy using an integrative approach. He has completed specialized training and been recognized as a Certified Integrated Manual Therapist (CIMT). This is a designation held by less than 120 clinicians nationally. He also has advanced training in spinal manipulative therapy and received his certification in dry needling (Cert DN) through the Spinal Manipulation Institute and Dry Needling Institute respectively.   Russ has a particular interest and expertise in spinal rehabilitation and sport rehabilitation/performance. Russ is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), Tennessee Physical Therapy Association (TPTA) and Private Practice Section (PPS) of the APTA.

Russ has a voracious appetite for all things business and leadership including books, podcasts, audiobooks, and just simple lessons learned each and every day in unexpected places.  He has participated in speaking engagements and been a guest on a national physical therapy podcast. He believes in giving back as “we make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give”.  This motto has led to service on community boards as well as active participation in his church.  Russ finds JOY spending time with his wife Sarah Beth, son Henry, and daughter Mary-Todd.  When Russ needs peace and calm he retreats to his family farm in Greenfield, TN.  There he enjoys, helping on the farm, multiple hunting opportunities, and fellowship with family and friends.

Favorite Quote: “Good things come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle.”

Fun Fact: Russ believes in the benefits of a cold shower and was once burned in a cryo chamber testing the effects of cold on the body.
